JOHANNES - ENTREPRENEUR
Nine is a community for coliving and coworking on the beautiful island of Tenerife, Spain. During their stay, we ask our Digital Nomads to share their stories.
What’s your background?
After studying business in Berlin and London, I started my career working in digital marketing for PayPal where I got deep into Search Engine Optimisation and ended up managing SEO for them globally. After almost 5 years, I left PayPal to work with startups to help them grow. I haven’t stopped since!
How long have you been working remote and what are you currently working on?
I’ve been travelling with my partner in crime Sarah for 2 years now, working remotely from day one. Currently, I’m sharing my time between doing marketing for a Fintech company based in London and starting my own business with a good friend in the marketing tech space. A couple of weeks per year I’m also mentoring startups in different accelerator programmes (most recently in Saudi Arabia).
Why do you think Tenerife and the Canary island is a good destination for digital nomads?
Although I’ve spent almost 3 months living at Nine, I haven’t been able to explore the island much due to COVID. However, just looking at the mountains and the sea every day makes me happy, and I can’t wait to explore it more. I’m so excited to finally go surfing, hiking and explore more of the delicious local cuisine!
What is your favorite thing about Nine Coliving?
I’m super happy to have an environment which inspires me to focus on work; I’ve been able to get a lot of things done here. It’s also about balance. Being able to enjoy the beautiful nature around. A huge house with all its character has been a real blessing in the times of Corona isolation. Then there’s the cute town of La Orotava on your doorstep, with anything you could need within walking distance. And lastly, I’ve met some really inspiring people here, many of them became really good friends. I don’t really want to leave, ever!
