WHO IS MARTA?

Marta gives her name to one of Nine's most emblematic rooms. She has designed our brand new kitchen and has been part of several anecdotes at Nine. So who’s Marta? πŸ”Ž

Marta, 31st March 1990. Poland.

When I met Marta (October 2020), I saw one more person, one of many, who needed to escape the ravages of the covid confinement in 2020. She arrived at Nine with her suitcase, her yoga mat and a reservation for only 5 days. What we didn't know that day, is that her stay would extend for 4 months and that Nine was the beginning of a big change in her life πŸ’«.

Marta studied architecture in Poland, Spain and the UK. She spent 6 years working and living in London for one of the largest architecture firms, focusing on designing office interiors.

During this time, she was witnessing a shift, from traditional open-plan office spaces to co-working environments like WeWork. This was the starting point of her interest in progress and how changes affect our lives [especially when it is for a better life].

She struggled with the decision where to live: She had a good job in London, family and friends in Poland, and she loved Spain. Choosing between these three was a tough call.

But, like many people, when covid arrived, she had the opportunity to change and try new ways of working and living. Thanks to covid, she could work remotely as the office was closed. That was the time she came to Nine.

One of the people who had been at Nine for a while welcomed her in her room with a happy "welcome to heaven". She herself tells us that she quickly realised that this place truly was heavenly in so many different ways.

It was a before and after, where she felt she found "her people" and the solution to her location dilemma: remote work 🌎.

What has happened after Nine in Marta's life has been incredible, as it has transformed her life.

When I think of the Marta of 2020, I see a girl with a lot of illusions and doubts. She knew where she wanted to be, but she had no idea how to get there.

Three years later, I see that Marta is where she wanted to be. She took a risk and she made it!

After being at Nine, Marta left her job in London and took an 8-month sabbatical during which she traveled and stayed in various colivings across Europe.

Now, she has launched her own design company, specialising in creating spaces for digital nomads, primarily colivings and coworkings like Nine. She is always open to innovative projects, and being surrounded by digital nomads ensures a continuous stream of exciting collaboration opportunities. These days, as a side hustle, she is part of a startup focused on creating AI-generated interiors, in collaboration with a friend she met in one of the colivings.

Marta has returned to Nine on many occasions, and every time she comes, she gives something back to the house and the community (which are always her favorite things about Nine!).

Nine stopped its activity for several months in 2022 to improve the facilities and Marta was part of the process. She helped us with everything, gave us guidance and advice, but also designed one of the main areas of the house: the kitchen. Here, as in any home, everything happens. We meet, we laugh, we eat and we become family. It is the place where the best memories are cooked.

In this way, Marta can not only spend time in Tenerife, but also continue working, gaining experience & doing what she likes best.

Recently, she has also spent a few months in the Swiss Alps where she worked on the opening of a new coliving, Alpiness Coliving.

So, for those who ask me who Marta is, in conclusion:

Marta has become a friendπŸ’œ. A person who, whenever she comes back, brings us good vibes and adds value wherever she goes.  She is a strong and smart woman, with a great sense of design and curious to learn and improve. At first sight, there is no doubt that she is a very beautiful person on the outside, but the best comes later. With her you can share good conversations and find inspiration for the life she has led. That's why I thought you might want to know who Marta is.

If you want to find her, she is probably traveling around her favorite colivings (among them Nine! ☺️).

With love, Silvia
